The University Area Rental/Redevelopment study, a joint effort between the Planning Commission and the Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Services, was recently completed. The study analyzed the rental housing market and the redevelopment potential of properties in this area. The housing stock in this University Area is predominately older rental units that were built between 1960-1989 and there still a high number of foreclosures in this area.
Two hundred sites in the area were reviewed and ranked for redevelopment potential based on siting criteria which gauged walking distance to public transit and essential services and a property criteria based on a property’s occupancy status, value, age, floodplain location, and foreclosure activity…Read the study
