A New Food Hall

Tampa is already home to two major food halls: The Hall on Franklin and Armature Works. The good news for locals is that yet another food hall experience is coming to the Tampa Bay Area. This time though, the new location is in downtown St. Petersburg. Read on to learn all about this rising trend in Tampa commercial real estate. A majority of the information in this article was pulled from the Tampa Bay Times.

The Who

Who is taking on this massive project? The same team that revitalized Armature Works, BE-1 Concepts. They are working in collaboration with the owner of Sundial, Bill Edwards.

The What

While no restaurants have been announced for the space as of yet, most people expect it to function much like Armature Works. BE-1 Concepts placed some of their own restaurants in spaces at the original food hall. The rest of the stalls are filled by a wide variety of other vendors and there are a wide variety of bars. It is widely anticipated that the development team will bring this successful formula over to the new food hall.

The Where

The new food hall is planned for a large space in Sundial, a retail and relaxation center in downtown St. Pete. The hall will replace the areas currently occupied by Locale Market, FarmTable Cucina, and potentially more. Ultimately, the project will include 25,000 square feet of downtown retail space.

The When

Construction is expected to begin on the project early this year. One of the co-owners of Armature Works called the project timeline “ambitious”, which is a bit of an understatement. Developers project that the project will be completed by the end of this year.

The How

It seems like the chefs and owners of Locale Market and FarmTable Cucina do not plan on sticking around for space inside the new food hall. Some of the retail spaces affected by the food hall are relocating to the opposite side of the shopping center. However, there are a handful of other vendors electing to close rather than relocate. In addition to that, the food hall will absorb several vacant retail spaces.
